NabooI forgot, when I turned on Return of the Jedi the other day, about George Lucas’s little “improvements” to the original Star Wars trilogy. None of the changes are all that noticeable until the end of the movie when the second Death Star is destroyed. All of these random characters from the ships appear dancing with the ewoks like the fish looking asian guy and General Calrissian. Then super CGI scenes from all different planets flash past with the people rejoicing the end of the emperor. If you listen carefully, you can hear them signing Auld Lang Syne (not really). If I was in the rebel alliance, I would be more than a little bit resentful of those rejoicing folk.  Where were they when we the deflector shields were still up?  And how do they get their news so fast?  I don’t trust them.

The movie ends, of course, with the appearance of the jedi ghosts where Anakin’s ghost is now Hayden Christensen instead of that dude with the egg-shaped head (Sebastian Shaw).  Like when I am reliving my  childhood (I was 6 when it came out, Hayden was 2), I want to be reminded of those other three movies.  That George Lucas really burns me up sometimes.
