Apparently, The Secret of NIMH is still enjoyable as an adult… or when nothing else is on. I looked on imdb while I watched the movie and was sad to see that Mrs. Brisby (Elizabeth Hartman) killed herself a few years after the movie. I was also surprised to see that her children were played by Shannen Doherty and Wil Wheaton and some other kids. I read the imdb forums, but there was just a lot of talk about why Justin (a super intelligent rat) and Mrs. Brisby (an ordinary widowed talking mouse) didn’t hook up at the end. I wonder what these people think about when they read Animal Farm?

Update: Apparently there is a sequel, The Secret of NIMH 2: Timmy to the Rescue starring Ralph Macchio.  Apparently it wasn’t as critical acclaimed.
