Apocalypto
Action August 30th, 2007
My movie watching has gone down somewhat due to a 3 week intensive workout regimen leading up to the Philly half marathon. Last night I did manage to watch Mel Gibson’s Apocalypto or as I like to call it… how Mel Gibson wishes he was born.
The movie is almost so good. It starts off well, but if you are going to have a 139 minute movie… maybe cut some of the slower breathing shots. And why do all the violent deaths have the arrow come out of someone’s mouth or the snake bite dude right in the jugular. It just reminded me of the South Park episode where Mel Gibson keeps trying to get the kids to torture him.

what is it with mel gibson? he used to be in good–or at least watchable–movies and now he is the king of weird movies with strange messages. it is almost as if he emerged from the religious closet (pious secret haters of other religions) i haven’t watched apocalypto of course but i’m sure it involves people painted in colors suffering a great deal and running up and down and chased by other people painted in different colors who mean them harm. or i might watch football.
