Mr. D'Onofrio has stated that he prefers character roles and eschews "lead or hero" roles, but, unfortunately, he is living in a time where character actors aren't as well-written, or revelant to many of the storylines. I feel that he should create his own character leads a la Robert Howard in THE WHOLE WIDE WORLD that would showcase his superb acting skills and let them shine! I agree with your assessment.
