Sabretooth
Action, Sci Fi, Television March 26th, 2008 
The other day James and I watched Sabretooth on the SciFi channel. The movie has something to do with a sabretooth tiger and some hikers. There’s a guy with lots of hunting gear and of course some hot ladies. The biggest surprise for me was that John Rhys-Davies was in the movie. Why would John Rhys Davies, who played Gimli the dwarf in Lord of the Rings and Sallah in Indiana Jones, be in this horrible made for tv movie? I looked up his filography and apparently Rhys-Davies is only in horrible movies. He’s in movies that are so bad, you didn’t even know they could possibly exist.  Anaconda 3 – check. Anaconda 4 – check. The Legend of Sasquatch, Chupacabra Terror, The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement – check, check, check. I feel so confused. Were LoTR and Indiana Jones only good by accident?

He works. He makes a living, probably a very good living. There is much to be said for that, plus he probably cannot tell the difference between Indiana Jones and Anaconda IV–although few sequels are as good as the original and by the time you get to #4, we are in trouble no matter what or who, which reminds me that Indy IV is about to be released. Bernie Schwarts (Tony Curtis) was a so-so actor, but he or his agent were good at selecting scripts so many of his films are really good while Henry Fonda was a great actor who played in some real stinkers.

He also played Nasser in the tv movie ‘Sadat.’ I thought El Cubano would appreciate that.
