Sickly Sewing

Not a Movie Confession 2 Comments »

I haven’t been feeling too well these last few days. I am not sure if I have a cold or if I am run down from work and tri training. While I know I seem really low energy to people, I am not very good at taking it easy. Being sick meant watching movies and sewing elephants. They aren’t perfect, but i think they look alright. I hope Sona likes them. By the time she knows what they are they’ll probably be pretty beat up and then I can make her new elephants.

The pattern is from Diana Rupp’s Sew Everything Workshop.

Bad Company

Action No Comments »

I left one channel on all day today while I took a sick day from work.  I left the house for a bit and Bad Company was on.  When I came back, it was playing again and around the same spot where I left off.  Bad Company is that really awful movie where Chris Rock has to impersonate the brother he never knew he had.  His brother liked jazz and fancy things so Chris Rock is a real Eliza Doolittle.  I noticed in the movie that the hot guy from Because I Said So (which I watched part of last night, again by the way) has a small part.  I looked him up to see if he is going to get a real leading shot anytime soon and what do you know… Gabriel Macht is the title character in the new Frank Miller movie The Spirit.  That sort of peaks my interest.  Is that sad?

The Patriot

Action, History 1 Comment »

I keep watching Heath Ledger movies on tv and then feeling a little weird about it. Last week, I watched A Knight’s Tale. The Four Feathers is going to be playing on Wednesday and I will probably watch that too. He made enjoyable movies. Right now, The Patriot is on. It is like an un-history, but at least it doesn’t make me fall asleep like John Adams.

I saw the trailer for the new Batman movie and I have to say, I mostly want to see it because Heath Ledger seems like a pretty awesome Joker. I’m still getting over my Christian Bale creep out factor, but I think I will go see it in the theater.

New Pedals

Not a Movie Confession 2 Comments »

When I started riding a bike, everyone told me I was crazy to get a hybrid bike. After about a year and a half, I relented and switched to a road bike. Now I have to ride all leaned over on a teeny seat. Then everyone told me I was crazy to have normal pedals. So I got pedals with toe cages… no different… so I finally graduated to clip pedals. Meet my Crank Brothers Egg Beaters. Every time I fall over sideways at a red light, I’m thinking of all you guys and your advice.

Here are my splits from the Mother’s Day 10 mile run (official time 1:44:46):

10′36″  11′01″  10′56″  10′51″  11′18″  10′56″   9′27″   9′51″  9′52″  9′22″

Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom

Action, Thriller No Comments »

The best part about the new Indiana Jones movie, is that the first three movies are always playing on tv. At any given time I can say, “I want to watch Raiders of the Lost Ark” and it will be on tv just ending with Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom about to begin. Drat. On the plus side, that means Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade is just two hours away from starting. Sometimes when I want to get inspired during a long bike ride or run, I sing the Indiana Jones theme. Oh Indy.

The Hurricane

Based on a True Story, Denzel, Prison No Comments »

For weeks now I have been wanting to watch The Hurricane and it was finally on tv.  Even better, it was on one of those channels like TBS so I got to watch it a few times.  I cried a little at the end.  I don’t know too much about the true story of Ruben Carter (I’ve done some research), but I like any movie with three Denzels.  For the record, there was no moment of Denzel in the movie.  There was, however, Clancy Brown.  You may remember him from such roles as prison guard in The Shawshank Redemption.  He sure makes a good prison guard, mean or nice.
