I saw In Bruges at Sundance in a gorgeous theater in Salt Lake City.  The movie is cute enough with two hit men hiding out in Bruges, Belgium.  I’m a little embarrassed to say that I was most excited when I recognized that the character Ken is played by Brendan Gleeson.  Besides being William Wallace’s best buddy in Braveheart, Brendan Gleeson also plays Mad Eyed Moody in the Harry Potter series.  Imagine how excited I was when the hit men’s boss shows up and it is Lord Voldemort himself.  Finally, a showdown between Mad Eyed Moody and the dark lord.  I won’t tell you what happens, but I will tell you there is also a dwarf in the movie.  Oh and Colin Farrell is in it to.  Luckily (for everyone) Colin Farrell has never been in a Harry Potter movie.

]]> http://movieconfession.com/2008/03/01/in-bruges/feed/ 1 Choke http://movieconfession.com/2008/02/01/choke/ http://movieconfession.com/2008/02/01/choke/#comments Fri, 01 Feb 2008 14:56:52 +0000 me http://movieconfession.com/2008/02/01/choke/ Choke is a movie directed by Clark Gregg based on a novel by Chuck Palahniuk, author of Fight Club.  Choke is exactly like Fight Club except the main character works at a historical theme park instead of an office.  And rather than visit support groups for ailments he doesn’t have, the main character Victor attends sexual addiction meetings that he does need.  So imagine Fight Club with a sex addicted historical theme park worker with a best friend instead of a split personality.

The movie isn’t really as bad as that makes it sound.  And the main character isn’t mad at the world like Tyler Durden, he is just mad at his mother. I might not watch this movie a second time, but I also didn’t find Sam Rockwell annoying.  So it is win win.
